Due South

(no subject)

This is starting to get annoying.

In addition to being sick and missing almost all my classes last week, I also managed to burn myself and hit my head. Both still hurt, which is more than a bit annoying. I mean, it's been years since I last hit my head, but isn't supposed to feel better three days later?

Plus, as better as I was feeling yesterday, I'm feeling nauseated again today. And utterly exhausted. Blah to this bug.

"And for the world I've helped to create. A world in which I allow my intelligence and goodwill to be constantly subverted by my pursuit of comfort and pleasure. And because knowing all of this, it is doubtful that given a second chance to make amends for my despicable behaviour, I would do anything different, for I find it easier to tell myself the story of my failure as a friend, as a human being, than to have to live the story of making the sustained effort to help."

"The truth about stories is that that's all we are."

Drabble: Late

Word Count: 100
Pairing: Lily/Sirius
Written for this week's hp100 challenge: late. I don't know why I decided to write Lily/Sirius.

Lily reluctantly broke the kiss. “It’s late. We should head back.”

Sirius nodded. “Someone might notice. If my family--"

Lily cut him off. “Your family. It’s always about them. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why we’re dating, because they’d hate it.”

“You know that’s not true.”

“Do I? We can’t get through one night without you mentioning them.”

“That’s because--"

“It doesn’t matter why, just that it happens! And unless it stops, we’re through. I’m sorry, Sirius. I just can’t do this. Not anymore.”

Sirius watched Lily leave, wondering why his family ruined everything, even those things they didn’t touch.
