Due South

(no subject)

I'm supposed to go to New Zealand this spring.

I'm not sure I'm going.

I'm not sure I want to go

Basically, once upon a time my best friend said she was going to do a year in NZ. I said I'd come visit her. Now she really is going and the assumption remains that I'm going to visit. Now, I love travelling. And New Zealand is supposed to be amazing.

But it's damned expensive to get there.

I'd miss out of potential work time. I already missed out on a month's worth of wages last summer for my vacation; I don't think I could do it again. Not to mention the plane ticket is something like two grand.

Technically, I'd be able to scrounge up enough money. But I'm not sure I want to, all things considered. I'm already on a fairly tight budget this year, with some money I was expecting to get not showing up. Next year will be worse, especially if I lose out on enough working time and summer job money.

And if I go to NZ, I probably won't be able to take any trips for the next few years. I'm not sure I want to do it that way.

Gah. Decisions, decisions. Any input?
